And Just Like That It's 2025!
I promised myself this year that over the holiday period I would try to rest and do more of the other things I love. Apart from the odd last minute order I was quite successful.
I kickstarted my holiday celebrations on the 21st by waking up at denial am to do my first ever park run and become a c25k graduate. I used to trail run a lot, but for various reasons haven't been running for a few years. I'm slowly beginning to return to the trails for a bit of bog bothering and loving it and I'm looking forward to doing a lot more of this in the coming year.
I also spent a lot of time hanging out with my family, playing games and watching films all while musing about what projects, goals and ambitions I want to undertake this year.
I already have a new large piece of Lino on my desk and unusually for me I'm designing directly onto the Lino rather than onto paper then transferring the design. I like this way as it feels more direct and in the moment. It's a bit slower to create the design as mistakes would be messy, but I don't have to then transfer the image which I always found a bit tedious. You can follow updates on this piece here, or on my Instagram page.
I'm really looking forward to spending some time this year improving my techniques, learning and growing as an artist, and embracing more opportunities. There is always so much to learn about and adapt to suit my own journey and I'm really looking forward to sharing that journey with you all.
As you may know winter has again arrived in Hebden Bridge and it's a tad cold. It's not dificult to see how the weather inspired my Welcome Home print. It looks really beautiful, but is a bit precarious when you live half way up a hill and although it's been a great excuse to get a fire going and settle down to some sketching with a hot chocolate, I'm really looking forward to getting out for a run.
I wish you all the best with whatever goals you hope to achieve this year, personal, or professional and I hope 2025 is kind to us all.
